We are ending the week here at “Mission Atlanta.” Tim Cummings took the team around to see more of the international areas of Doraville. It’s almost like a completely different world. Many of the students have commented how they do not feel like they are in Atlanta. The world has been brought to us!
The teams began their second day of Backyard Bible Clubs. More seeds were planted in the hearts of the young children. Sometimes it’s difficult to overcome the language barrier, but God always gives the kids that “connection” that speaks louder than words.
We also had our second concert at one of the apartments that the students are in during the day. We had a great turn out. We even had some visitors from FBC Jonesboro! The kids did an amazing job yet again. What a privilege it is to work with these great kids. They work so hard all year long to learn these songs so that they can share them with others. Most of the people in the apartments had never heard a youth choir like ours. We praise God for the opportunities He has given us to minister.
Thank you again for your continued prayers.

Day five was the beginning of the Backyard Bible Clubs in Doraville at the apartment complexes. Tim Cummings of Whirlwind Missions was our coordinator and contact into the various apartments that we ministered. Tim is a big ball of excitement and completely passionate for winning these people to Christ! Tim tool us to the Buford International Market to show us the cultural diversity that is in this area. There were many different types of food that most of us would never eat! The kids really seemed to enjoy it. While there, the kids sang one of their favorites, “Revelation 19″ for the shoppers. It was great!
Then we began the BBC. Each team did two back-to-back Clubs in two different complexes. It was very tiring, but very rewarding seeing the kids so happy. Our students pair up and go knocking on doors to get the kids to come. It takes boldness to this, but our kids are up to the task. The children loved to play the games with the “big kids.” The kids enjoyed crafts, puppets, the Bible story and singing. We will build on these newly formed relationships tomorrow and Friday.
Next, was a concert at one of the complexes from the morning BBC. Again, the kids team up and go door-to-door asking people to come for the free concert, most of the time speaking in Spanish. The kids did great and there was a good crowd ready to listen! The Trash Can Band always goes first in order to get the attention of the residents and let them know that something exciting is about to happen. Our guys and girls do a tremendous job! The kids sang beautifully and the residents loved every minute. They also really got involved in the “Lifehouse Skit” which talks about the things of the world that try to separate us from Christ. After the concert, the kids and adults alike mingle in the crowd and talk to the residents. This is always a very special time.
We even had a very special guest…..Pastor Mel. We are so thankful to him for coming out and showing his support. It is a blessing to have a pastor who truly cares about our community!
Please continue to pray for strength as we continue the BBC Thursday and Friday.

We spent more time this morning preparing for our Backyard Bible Clubs that begin tomorrow. The kids are excited to get to spend time with the kids in these multi-housing complexes. Please be in prayer for our students that they will have boldness to share Christ. Also be in prayer for those attending. Pray that God would open their eyes to see and hearts to receive the message of Christ.
For a fun outing, we went to Studio Movie Grill to see Kung Fu Panda 2 and have lunch. It was so much fun to have lunch served to you while watching the movie!
Then we were off to the Georgia Baptist Children’s home for a concert, cookout and softball game. Oh how God used our students to minister and love on these kids who have been neglected, abused or abandoned. During the concert, the students would go out into the crowd and help teach the kids the motions to the songs. The kids loved it! You could tell by the smiles on their faces. Everyone also seemed to enjoy the softball game and ice cream afterwards. God not only worked in the lives of the residents, but in the lives of our students.
You may notice that there are not pictures from our time at the Children’s Home. In order to protect the kid’s privacy, we did not take any photos. But I do promise there will be plenty tomorrow!
Thank you so much for your prayers! Continue to pray as we begin the Backyard Bible Clubs.

Our third day was spent largely in pre-planning for our Backyard Bible Clubs (BBC) that we will lead on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The kids were divided into six teams with each student having different responsibilities. The students lead these clubs, not the adults. It was exciting to see these students taking the lead and organizing their teams.
We then were able to have some free time to rest up for the remainder of the week. Some played in the game room, some watched movies and some even took a nap!
Stone Mountain was our destination for the evening. Chick-fil-A provided the meals for us……thanks Chick-fil-A!!!! The kids got to play around some before heading to the new and improved laser show. It truly was spectacular. Everyone had a great time visiting with their friends and watching the show.
The week has just begun and we have so many ministry opportunities to look forward to
Thanks for lifting us up in your prayers. More to come as the week progresses.

Today we participated in two worship services on opposite ends of Atlanta. In the morning, we sang at Concord Baptist Church in Cumming. What a great time of worship we had! The congregation was truly blessed by the students and were so appreciative of our coming to sing. We were blessed ourselves to have the opportunity to minister at this wonderful church.
On the way to our next concert, we just HAD to make a stop at the Varsity. It would have been wrong to pass by and not stop! It was delicious.
Our next stop was Woolsey Baptist Church in Fayetteville. We even had a few visitors from FBCJ! It was nice to see some of our “home folk” in the congregation. The students again did an amazing job, but with more than just singing. The Pastor complimented them for being attentive and using their Bibles during the service as they sat in the choir loft.
Our last stop of the evening was at Bruster’s Ice Cream. It was a great night to cool off and enjoy some ice cream.
It’s time for a well earned good night’s sleep. You should be proud of your students and the fine way that they are representing Christ and First Baptist Jonesboro!

What an amazing start to this year’s choir mission tour, “Mission Atlanta.” I felt especially burdened this year to minister to those in our own city, so our mission field is Atlanta and the surrounding areas. The kids were excited to be able to minister in their own hometown.
We began this morning by singing at two local assisted living facilities, Golden Crest at Eagle’s Landing and Golden Crest in Morrow. We sang some of the songs from our program, but the highlight for the residents was singing some of the great hymns of the faith. They chose their favorites and we sang every verse. It was a true blessing to see the smiles on their faces as they sang and worshipped. The kids had a great time as well talking with residents. It is great to see the younger generations embracing those who have gone before and paved the way.
Make sure to check back each day for details from the day.
Thank you so much for your prayers and support for these amazing students.

We’re on our way home from an amazing mission trip. God moved in the lives of the students and adults in such a mighty way. We are anxious to get home and share from our hearts how God blessed us and how these kids were used to further His Kingdom.
We will share tomorrow night (6.13.10) at 6:00 pm during the Fresh Encounter Prayer Service. You will hear testimonies, songs and see photos of the students in action. Students need to wear their “Wake Up” shirt and jeans or denim capris. After Fresh Encounter, all Frontline students and alumni are invited to Luke Cathy’s house for an end of the year party. You don’t want to miss the fun.
Thank you again to our church family and to the parents for sharing your kids with us.
